Events
The core of EEB is a vibrant sense of community. This program is a synergy of thoughts, ideas, passions, and insights. EEB is the intellectual home for many and our connections strengthen when we gather and share - even if that's remote during the pandemic.
In addition to our weekly seminar series and bi-weekly student colloquia, EEB hosts several additional events throughout the year including social events organized by the EEB Grad Group (EGG). The events are open to everyone in the MSU community and we encourage all those interested in ecology, evolution, and behavior to join us.
We strive to have an event for everyone, and we thrive on new ways to do that. Contact us if you have an idea.
Annual Events Schedule
Fall picnic - The EEB Grad Group (EGG) hosts an annual potluck picnic early in the
fall semester to welcome new students and provide members with an opportunity to reconnect
at the start of each academic year.
Graduate recruitment - EEB coordinates with member departments to sponsor activities during “Recruitment Weekend”, a time in early February when some affiliate departments organize events for prospective MSU students. The culmination of recruitment is an EEB Wine and Cheese Party held at MSU’s Plant Conservatory.
Research symposium - The EEB Grad Group (EGG) organizes an all-day symposium in early May where students, postdocs, and faculty present their research in a formal conference setting. The symposium is held at MSU’s Henry Center and includes oral and poster presentations as well as many opportunities for informal interactions among EEB members.
